The legened of DJ Sean Smith "The Smooth Agent" began taking shape around the age of thirteen. A calling to the music interested Sean, and soon he became a known name of rocking the tables around skate parties and neighborhood functions. While pursuing academic interests at Grambling State University, Sean built a solid name for himself hosting his own mix show on KGRM 91.5 FM, as well as frequent guest spots on WKEA-FM aka K98-FM.
During this time he became a known ficture at such clubs as the Renaissance, Club H20, Club Millenneium, and Lacies; after graduation he returned to the Windy City ad began releasing recordings, starting with his first record with MFON entitled "Ron Hardy's Resurrection" on the Soma (UK) label which was in heavy rotation in the European market.
After tackling the European market, The Smooth Agent traveled, playing national and international dates in North America, Europe, and Asia, making the rounds in Toronto at Revival, playing in Osaka at Microcosm, and frequenting many clubs coast to coast from sea to shining sea. Upon returning to Chicago, Sean accepted many residences at Betty Blue Star, Mr. Brown's Lounge, Output, and others, as well as headlining Winter Music Conference and a frequent guest attraction at the annual Backyard Boogie.
Sean's musical success as a recording artist, producer, and DJ ultimately led to him founding Smooth Agent Records in 2003. His endeavors have led to releases by critically acclaimed artists such as Johnny Fiasco, Roy Davis Jr., Ron Trent, DaJae, Abicah Soul, Stacy Kidd, Bernard Badie, Kenny Cavajhal, DJ Pap a.k.a. Black Mamba, Karu and others.
These days you can catch DJ Sean Smith's live shows at Chicago's most prestigious lounge, Mr. Brown's and the Celebrity, or streaming live on SoulCafe, Gotta Have House Radio, and WWRG 88.9FM. He has recently been invited as a resident DJ at Mr. Brown's Lounge, and will soon be releasing new music with newly signed artists on his imprint.
Whether he's rocking the seats at Microcosm in Japan, or in an exclusive lounge like Smart Bar in Chicago, The Smooth Agent is the talk of the town.
